In 2000 Kieran Kelly (Principal) and his partner Gerry, opened their first dance school called 'K.Dee.K Danceworks' based in Stoke. .After 12 years, many happy memories and numerous happy customers later, they decided it was time to move venues to their current venue The Rialto Ballroom. The Rialto was an iconic former ballroom in Stoke town centre which opened over 90 years ago but has lain empty for a decade. It has now been returned to its former glory and been given a new lease of life as the home of K.Dee.K Danceworks. The renovation has brought this magnificent art-deco ballroom right up to date but with a sensitive nod to it's rich heritage. The Rialto has had a glorious past being a welcome distraction to many young dancers during the war years, including many American GI's with whom it was popular. Over the years it has been a cinema, restaurant, shopping arcade and a Conservative club. It is one of the oldest ballrooms in Stoke-on-Trent, a city that has an impressive reputation for dancing. Kieran, the principal teacher of the school used to travel all the way from Ireland with his partner to have dance lessons in Stoke. "There were a lot of top teachers locally... they were some of the best teachers in the country if not the world." The Rialto has now been completely refurbished featuring a new sprung dance floor, a beautifully decorated ballroom complete with chandeliers, disco lighting and wall mirrors, a stunning garden terrace, and relaxing bar area. Whether you remember the Rialto from yesteryear or are completely new to dancing you will always get a warm welcome at at Stoke-on-Trent's finest luxury dance studio! Gerry sadly passed away early 2016. He was an integral and dearly loved part of K.Dee.K but his legacy lives on.
