Private Tuition & Wedding Dances

Private Tuition

Private tuition is available at the studio for all dance styles, ages and levels. We regret that we are unable to give a fixed time and day each week for private tuition, but do try our best to accommodate your needs. Lessons are arranged on a flexible basis with your instructor and take place outside of our public class times.

People choose private tuition for many different reasons:

  • You may need a little extra help to get started if you are new to dance. It can help you gain the confidence to join the group classes!
  • Brush up on technique to further develop your dancing and learn in even more detail!
  • You can go at your own pace and be more flexible for your lifestyle if you are unable to make the group classes.
  • You might have a specific goal – for example a special occasion, exam or competition.
  • You may have missed a few weeks due to illness or hoilidays and just want to catch up with the class.
  • Perhaps you just can't wait a week for another dancing fix! You can focus on dances that particularly enjoy or want to get to grips with.

We recommend a series of private lessons for wedding dance couples, which will allow you to choreograph something simple to the song of your choice. Your wedding dance is what YOU make it and so it needs to reflect how you are as a couple. It can be it can be slow and romantic, upbeat and fun to get the party going, or even have a real comedy feel to it!! The choice is entirely yours. Our staff have years of experience in working with couples to ensure that your first dance is something really special. Visit our online shop to buy weding dance gift vouchers online! A unique and unforgettable present for a loved one...

How long will it take?
How many lessons you will need obviously depends on what you want to achieve. A fully choreographed dance will take longer to ensure that you have a polished routine and feel comfortable with the end result . If you have danced before and have got time to practice in between are also huge factors affecting how many lessons it may take. It is your big day and we want you to feel relaxed and enjoy your moment. The best option is to book an initial, informal lesson with us and see how you get on. We find this helps many nervous grooms who may not be as keen on the idea of a first dance! After discussing your requirements and running though some basic steps our instructors will then be able to give you a better idea of a timescale from that point.

What if we don’t have a song yet?
We can help you to choose a song that’s appropriate to you and the kind of dance you’d like to learn. We have a large and eclectic range of music in the studio and hope to have something for everyone. A good starting point is to perhaps let us know the kind of music that you enjoy, especially if you have unusual taste! Maybe you are a 'Strictly' fan and have always wanted to dance a romantic waltz or rumba? Ballroom and Latin is our speciality and we have thousands of songs to choose from! Looking on wedding dance websites are also a great way of finding ideas. All this information can help us start to think about what may be appropriate before you arrive.

Do we need to bring anything?
Just yourselves and a cd with your music on (if you have it) is all we need to get started! Nearer the day some couples choose to practice in the shoes they will be wearing and it can help prepare the bride by dancing in a longer skirt. It can also really help the instructor choreograph your routine if they know small details about the dress to ensure you don't have any issues on the day. For example; will you have a very long train, is the dress very fitted around the legs, are you having a bustle fitted, do you have a high tiara or headpiece that could get in the way of any turns? We can adapt the routine to suit all eventualities!

Help – I’ve never danced before!
Don’t panic - that’s what we’re here for! Get started in the comfort of your private lesson before you make you debut on the dance floor!
